Dear RA 7th Honors Math Parents,
Only 8 more weeks to go! 😁😁 We've got this! Thanks, as always, for all of your time and support you spend with your students as they work and learn on assignments and tasks from home. 🙂
Here's what we did this week! 👍🏼

✳ i-Ready Weekly Homework: Your student will be expected to work on i-Ready lessons at home (due to limited chromebook availability at school), completing 45 minutes worth of math lessons per week. This should be equivalent to at least 2 or 3 lessons worth (depending on the pace your student works at).
Knowledge Checks … better known as test dates
⭐ AM students are finishing the first half of Chapter 9, and will be ready to take the Mid-Chapter 9 Check this coming Monday, March 29th, focusing on Lessons 9-1 through 9-4.
⭐ PM students are looking to take the Mid-Chapter 9 Check this coming Wednesday or Thursday, focusing on Lessons 9-1 through 9-4.
Just Because … we sometimes need reminders 😉
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions, comments or concerns.
Sincerely,
Miss Chelsea Smith

Just So You Know … what we covered this week
AM Only
- Monday: The class reviewed Thursday's homework before moving into Lesson 9-3 (Constant Rate of Change and Slope), finding the slopes of graphs, equations, tables, ordered pairs, etc.
- Tuesday: We wrapped up Monday's lesson, reviewing skills and practicing before working on the lesson's assignment (listed in the 'Additional Practice' section below).
- Wednesday: After reviewing Tuesday's homework assignment, the class jumped into Lesson 9-4 (Direct Variation), focusing on proportional relationships.
- Thursday: We quickly finished Wednesday's lesson and spent the remainder of class time completing the lesson's homework assignment. (listed in the 'Additional Practice' section below).
- Monday: After asking final questions about the Chapter 8 Review (Study Guide), the class started the Chapter 8 Assessment (Equations & Inequalities).
- Tuesday: The remainder of the Chapter 8 Assessment was taken during class time.
- Wednesday: We moved into Lesson 9-1 (Functions), understanding what relations are (a set of ordered pairs), and what makes a relation a function (no repeating x-values, passing the vertical line test). Students supported one another while completing the lesson's homework assignment (listed in the 'Additional Practice' section below).
- Thursday: The class reviewed Wednesday's assignment, then moved into Lesson 9-2 (Representing Linear Functions). After a quick review of skills for this lesson (students have had much practice already during warm-up time), they were given their homework assignment (listed in the 'Additional Practice' section below).
What to Expect … in the coming week
AM Only
- Mid-Chapter 9 Check: This brief assessment/quiz will check student understanding for Lessons 1 through 4 in Chapter 9 (Linear Functions).
- Lesson 9-5 (Slope-Intercept Form): The class will continue practicing how to determine slopes and y-intercepts of lines and use them to graph linear equations.
- Lesson 9-6 (Solve Systems of Equations by Graphing): We will solve a system of linear equations by graphing, and determine the number of solutions of a system of linear equations (one, infinite, or none).
- (if time) Lesson 9-7 (Solve Systems of Equations Algebraically): Students will solve a system of linear equations algebraically, using substitution, and interpret the meaning of the solutions.
- Lesson 9-3 (Constant Rate of Change & Slope): In this lesson, students will practice find the constant rate of change (unit rate) for a linear relationship; another name of constant rate of chance is slope (the slope of a line is the constant vertical rise, over the constant horizontal run).
- Lesson 9-4 (Direct Variation): Students will identify and use direct variation (proportional reasoning).
- Mid-Chapter 9 Check: This brief assessment/quiz will check student understanding for Lessons 1 through 4 in Chapter 9 (Linear Functions).
- (if time) Lesson 9-5 (Slope-Intercept Form): The class will continue practicing how to determine slopes and y-intercepts of lines and use them to graph linear equations.
