Dear Parents,
I am so very excited to be your student's Middle School math teacher this school year at Renaissance! This year will certainly be a learning experience for every student, as well as for myself; each year I am very thankful for all of the interesting things I get to take away from working with my students as they grow as individuals, group members and all around learners. Exploration, curiosity, questioning and growth are some of the pieces that I have personally gained and strengthened throughout my educational and professional years that played a significant role in my learning experiences and overall interest in school in general. It is my dream and desire to see that these such components are part of your child's experience in my classroom and help them not only to have the most positive experience possible, but fun as well!
My mission for this year is to support your child and his or her growth cognitively, emotionally and socially as we all take the necessary precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic. These three components will work together to help your child become their own person and truly feel like an individual. It is my goal to help your child reach their highest potential by caring for these three aspects of their school and home lives and encourage you to help me by supporting them in their learning journey as well. When all three pieces are considered and continuously strengthened, your student will be able to reach their personally established goals, become a great team member and friend, and have fun learning in our classroom community!
Some of my favorite things to do are sing, play guitar, listen to music (yes, I truly enjoy music in general), read for fun (as it should always be), spend a lot of time with my friends and family, and go camping. I feel it is really important for learning to be experienced through singing, dancing, drawing and other forms of engaging and fun activities. Your child will be a part of a fun and creative learning community in which all students will be welcome and encouraged to express themselves through song, dance, visual creations and much more. Giving your student opportunities to share their ideas and learning with their peers in ways that are engaging for them will give them choice and chances to provide experiences and suggestions to their friends.
I cannot wait to meet you and your student, and get to know your child as both an individual and a learner during our fun and exciting year of exploration in our math classroom! If you ever have any questions about anything or are interested in becoming a parent volunteer, please do not hesitate to contact me!
Sincerely,
Miss Smith
